Freezables Reminder
As cold weather sets in across much of the country, Towne reminds customers that its Rules Tariff includes regulations on Freezable Commodities. At this time, Towne will accept shipments of commodities subject to freezing based on the following guidelines:- Shipments must be tendered Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday only.
- Shipments must be destined to overnight service points only.
- Towne reserves the right to refuse to pick up shipments due to extreme cold weather at origin or destination.
- Shipments may be held during transit to protect from freezing during extreme cold spells.
- There will be no recourse for shipper or consignee regarding late delivery of a shipment that is held for protection from extreme cold.
- All shipments tendered under this policy must have words "FREEZABLE" or "PROTECT FROM FREEZING" marked on the freight and noted in the body of the bill of lading.
- Local terminal dispatch must be advised when pickup is called in that a shipment contains freezables.
