Midwest Hub Changes

Effective May 4th, Towne Consolidates Midwest Hub Operations

While many companies are talking about "cutting costs," Towne Air Freight is more concerned with meeting the changing needs of our partners with increased efficiencies. We've been looking at every aspect of our organization for ways to streamline operations and processes to continuously improve upon our standard of care in a cost-effective manner. We are pleased to announce an operating change which will result in better service.

Recently, with much analysis, we've found that consolidating hub operations in our core Midwest markets will not only reduce the miles and operating costs associated with multiple hubs, but will ultimately benefit our customers. Effective May 4th, 2009, we will no longer have hubs in Fort Wayne (FWA) and Columbus (CMH). We will absolutely continue to service these areas, but the hub activity will be moved to our facility in Indianapolis (IND).

This will result in Towne offering two locations in the Midwest (Chicago and Indianapolis) that feed directly to every market within the region-that means improved service via less handling of your cargo. IND will become a 24-hour operation-staffed with some of our most seasoned personnel with great knowledge and familiarity of our business partners.

There are a few specific changes of which I want to make you aware. The cut-off times in Cleveland (CLE) and Detroit (DTW) will be 18:30 and 19:30, respectively, to accommodate the new IND hub operation. Please note that these new lock out times remain highly competitive. Additionally, transit times for the points below will become two transit days effective May 4th and tariffs will be adjusted to reflect a change in transit days from one day to two.
As always, we appreciate your support and feedback. If you have any questions regarding these changes, please feel free to contact your local Account Executive or Terminal Manager.
